WHERE CULTURE LIVES
Originally named "Don Mills Road" or "The Mill Road" in 1799, Broadview Avenue linked the expanding city to the industries found at the mills within the Don Valley. Broadview Avenue became an important route for the small villages east of the Don River that were still separated from the metropolitan city of Toronto. In 1884, the street was renamed for the broad view of Toronto's cityscape from Riverdale Park. With its full history, Broadview Avenue is now filled with attractions such as the oldest house in Toronto and the Royal Canadian Curling Club and is distinguished with neighborhoods that include Danforth by the Valley, Riverdale Park, Chinatown East and the Queen Broadview village. Broadview Avenue is a hidden gem within the city of Toronto that still bears its heritage and has blossomed into a distinct and unique area. |
